The Intuitive Lung Fellows Career Accelerator (LFCA) is a dynamic program designed for fellows specializing in Interventional Pulmonology, Pulmonary/Critical Care, and Thoracic Surgery.

Participants will explore a range of high-impact topics, including:

  • Understanding the changing landscape of the job market.
  • Contracts and negotiation.
  • Leveraging partnerships for programmatic growth (developing internal and external relationships, outreach, multidisciplinary collaboration).
  • Building a business plan, learning how to ask for resources, and team development.
  • The business and economics of medicine and how to maintain a successful practice.

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for the November 2026 – May 2027 program cycle, fellows must be currently enrolled as one of the following:

  • Interventional Pulmonology Fellow
  • Third-Year Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellow
  • Thoracic Surgery Fellow

This program emphasizes business acumen related to developing thoracic oncology programs, including robotics. It combines interactive virtual sessions with an in-person component focused on business case workshops and hands-on training.

Participants will explore crucial topics from the perspectives of practicing Ion physicians, healthcare system executives, and other professionals, gaining insights into leadership development, business acumen, and programmatic strategies. Small group settings will also be available to encourage in-depth discussions, enhance learning, and facilitate valuable networking opportunities.

We expect to meet 2–3 evenings per month from November through May. These sessions will be mandatory with minimal to no absences expected (further details about course expectations will be outlined to awardees accepted into the program), and there will be additional informal meetups during the 2027 conference season. The program will also include a formal in-person session focused on business case workshops and hands-on sessions at our Atlanta training facility in late April/May (confirmed in-person program dates will be announced at the kick-off for those accepted into the program).

Thank you for your interest in the LFCA program. If you have any additional questions after reviewing the FAQ section, please contact us at [email protected].
